Set at the heart of the city’s civic quarter the Christkindelmarkt is a key attraction in the Festive Leeds calendar. Covering the whole of Millennium Square for the festive months every year, Christkindelmarkt is one of the largest and most established traditional German markets that visit England.
With over 40 traditional wooden stalls the traders sell everything you would need for the perfect Christmas including authentic wooden tree decorations, candy canes, gifts, jewellery and hand crafted toys, taking the strain out of Christmas shopping.
The market brings a party atmosphere to the city centre with fairground rides and mugs of hot gluhwein to wash down traditional German fayre including bratwurst and stollen. A replica bierkeller sits at the heart of the market offering shoppers a warm respite from the winter chills and providing a German welcome, well into the night (the bierkeller is open until 11pm).
A favourite with office parties throughout the festive season the bierkeller even has its own authentic entertainment including the ‘Herr Jens Bavarian Oompah Band’ playing nightly shows.
